Being touched and caressed, being massaged, is food for the infant; food as necessary as minerals, vitamins, and proteins. Deprived of this food, the name of which is love, Babies would rather die. And often they do. – Frederick Leboyer
TLC for Mother and Baby
ANNOUNCEMENT: These lovely classes are on hold for the moment whilst I work on training teachers to teach them. Please get in touch if you are interested in the training.
In this course we learn baby massage as well as yoga based postnatal movement, ways of connecting through playfulness with the body and songs. Setting a supportive environment for you both as well as the whole group is fundamental to the course.
Baby Massage is a wonderful way to connect, to bond with your baby. Touch is a language in itself.
The language of sensation, the language of feeling, the language of connection and love. We learn to sense spaces, freedom, blockages, tension. We learn to watch the response of pleasure, relaxation, rejection. We communicate through touch in a very profound way.
The course suitable for parents, one or both, or carers of young ones from around 6-8 weeks to just before crawling. It lasts around one hour whilst online.
We go at the speed of the babies, and there is flexibility in approach to allow for sleeps/feeding/changing during the session. It is also ok to take time to feed the baby. If the baby is asleep, dolls are usually provided to learn the strokes for the baby massage part when we have the class in the studio. In these current circumstances, I will send a video after the session as a reminder. In the part where the focus is more on mum, we practice movements for the recovery of strenght as well as flexibility, breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, self-care tools.
Songs are used throughout the sessions.
The usual venue my beautiful warm, bright and light Yoga Stable, at 3a Montgomery Street Lane, EH7 5JT, is currently closed.
