Being touched and caressed, being massaged, is food for the infant; food as necessary as minerals, vitamins, and proteins. Deprived of this food, the name of which is love, Babies would rather die. And often they do. – Frederick Leboyer

Baby Massage is a wonderful way to connect, to bond with your baby. Touch is a language in itself.
The language of sensation, the language of feeling, the language of connection and love. We learn to sense spaces, freedom, blockages, tension. We learn to watch the response of pleasure, relaxation, rejection. We communicate through touch in a very profound way.
This course is in two different modules of 5 weeks each. It costs £50 It is suitable for parents, one or both, or carers of young ones from around 6-8 weeks to just before crawling. The first module is more focused on baby and the second one on mum.
The course lasts one and a half hour. We go at the speed of the babies, and there is flexibility in approach to allow for sleeps/feeding/changing during the session. It is also ok to stay behind after to feed the baby. If the baby is asleep, dolls are provided to learn the strokes for the baby massage part. In the part where the focus is more on mum, we practice movements for the recovery of strenght as well as flexibility, breathing techniques and relaxation techniques. Songs are used throughout the sessions.
It is a longer class, where we look at ways to play, to move, to bond and to take care of both ourselves and our babies. We use movement, song, breath, massage, presence as tools. It is a course very much led by the babies in how it develops each time, although there is a structure underneath it, we have to be ready to mould it and flow differently in it , each time.
Teas and biscuits are offered during a short break.
The Venue is the beautiful warm, bright and light Yoga Stable, at 3a Montgomery Street Lane, EH7 5JT
